American Association of State and Local History (AASLH) provides leadership and support for its members who preserve and interpret state and local history in order to make the past more meaningful to all Americans.

The American Planning Association's (APA) policy guides represent the collective thinking of our members on positions of both principle and practice. They represent APA's official position on issues central to building communities of lasting value. Topics include: Climate Change, Energy, Hazard Mitigation, Sustainability, Housing, and more.

Butte CPR provides grants to improve buildings, educational tours, lectures, preservation workshops, and other events, liaison with local government, business, and civic organizations, and the labor to restore, renovate and salvage historical buildings in the nation's largest National Historic Landmark District.

The DOI site provides links and information about every major bureau and land use office in the United States. Further the DOI funds projects that encourage preservation of National Historic Landmarks

The Idaho Heritage Trust provides technical assistance to those interested in preserving historic properties, sites and artifacts in Idaho. The initial assistance is provided at no cost to the potential applicant.

The Jerry Metcalf Foundation is a private, non-profit organization that has been supporting progressive work in Montana with small grant awards for non-profit projects. Funding is provided for projects involving visual, performing, and literary arts, historical research and preservation, environmental research and conservation, and education and community health.

The J.M. Kaplan Fund, a New York City based family foundation, champions inventive giving that supports transformative social, environmental, and cultural causes.The fund is active across the United States and beyond, operating grant programs focusing on the environment, heritage conservation, migration, and New York City.

The CLG program, is based upon an appreciation of the community's historic patterns, architectural styles, influential architects and builders, significant people and events, and historic and prehistoric archeology.The CLG program certifies local governments with historic preservation programs, provide technical preservation assistance, and annually dedicate 10% of its federal funding to cities, towns, and counties that commit themselves to preserving their heritage under the program. Each receives $1,000 to $5,000, depending on their level of activity and the federal allocation, to spend in ways that best assist their community's local preservation needs.

The Community Transportation Enhancement Program (CTEP) is a Montana program that funds transportation related projects designed to strengthen the cultural, aesthetic, and environmental aspects of Montana's intermodal transportation system. Assistance and financial support is availabe for projects concerning pedestrian and bike trails, scenic easements, historic and archaeological sites, historic highway programs, and landscaping and community beautification projects.

The Montana Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office offers subgrants as available to Montana communities to support preservation efforts in accordance with federal grant programs.
